Social Media Fundraising via Helpedia dead?

(Note: I am a big Fan of platforms such as Justgiving or Helpedia - this article is to wake up much more and shows how little (in my opinion) potential is enormous -. Thanks for all the feedback. Thanks especially to Thomas Helpedia which expresses it! See comment # 4)

Social Media Fundraising via Helpedia over? Is there still interest themselves to start a fundraising campaign right now Pakistan during the crisis? (As at 20.8.10, 18 clock)

This question I wanted to get to the bottom and I've typed all together donations, which are reported to Helpedia in Excel and added. Here are the results:
After the high media attention Although the volume of donations could be increased, but mostly excited by the Germany's Relief fund-raising. However, you can see here that the absolute peak day is 2,500 €, which is during such a disaster really extremely low! The total volume of donations

the last 7 days is just around 10,000 €. € 4,900 can be directly on Germany's Relief back. (See Figure 2)

"Okay, maybe not as many donations - but perhaps very many small donors ..." No way. Overall, just about 200 people have donated in the last 7 days via Helpedia. And even though Helpedia has started on all previous fundraisers an e-mail call. (See Figure 3)

All these numbers make me a champion of social media for thought.

What is your opinion? Is it the laziness of Germans start to even fund raising and it was only during the Haiti-disaster hip? Or is it the charities that will not only or not at all trying to activate their supporters? What could change
NGOs to generate by portals such as Helpedia donations in Germany. In the UK, Justgiving has an annual 150 million pounds to ...

I appreciate your response here in the Post - like you can also right to vote.

Best regards, Christoph

4.0 million new social media users in Germany: ARD / ZDF Online Study

The brand new ARD / ZDF online study is here! The most important results, aufbearbeitet something better than the public broadcasters:

first There are 5.5 million new Internet users in Germany since 2009! This is the largest increase since 2002. They are 49 million people!

second There are 4 million new users of online communities! " They are 15.7 million people and an increase of 34% in 2009!

third There is a saying that online Ü-40 generation is not widely used. The largest group of online users (in millions) is between 40 and 49 years old, to follow the 30-39 year olds and the 20-29 year olds. 100% of 14-19 are online!

4th Use of e-mail and search engine is still by far the most used (each over 80% of Internet users). This is followed by Just like surfing the Internet and search for offers (were due to the "clarity" from the left diagram)

5th Online communities with enormous growth in recent years! 32% of online users are now users of online communities - from an increase by 34% in 2009.

6th I am delighted that their contribution tweeting, posting, or anything else hires them. (Below, you can just click the comments ;-) dat are also seen extremely happy.

7th The complete results will be found at: http://www.ard-zdf-onlinestudie.de/index.php?id=onlinenutzung0

BestCase 10rappen.ch: How will online campaigning done today!

While other NGOs are still thinking about it, whether they should move as well in social media - the Swiss NGO Berne Declaration "has shown that online campaigning can work in Switzerland. And also that social media is not only "I have 840 fans on Facebook" means. Thanks to BD, more precisely on Roseli Ferreira, for the quick and detailed replies to my questions by e-mail: This is social media management, as it should be! I want this time will concentrate on the application of the campaign, since for many NGOs is still a black box.

CONTENTS:
The Crisis:
- 10 cents more per T-shirt would seamstresses rich in developing countries, to a dignified life to lead. At fault are mainly Western fashion labels, but the pay the legal minimum wage, this is in many countries but due to competitive pressure but less than the existence of wage.

The Opportunity:
- supporters can each week (10 weeks) send up to 4 fashion labels, including a personal message individualized video. Thus, pressure can be exerted on the labels because they recognize that many of their customers want to be fairer working conditions for the production of T-shirts.

The creative implementation:
- is graphically implemented the protest action very beautiful, if sometimes a bit too much at once. Located in the center Related creates campaign video is a few minutes before and the problem also for non-attendees involved simple, understandable and yet professionally demonstrate: respect! Beautiful I also think that the protest can be attached to donate, which is also used actively, according to BD!

APPLICATION:
online PR? "We have our campaign on Monday launched at 10:00 with an article on 20min.ch. Http://www.20min.ch/finance/news/story/10405581 The once provided for controversial comments (137 pieces) what is good and shows how moving the topic, and about 40% of the traffic on that day "

cooperation? "We have agreed to cooperate with the action 72 hours -. All these young people have received in recent weeks, a promotional package, which includes campaign material from us in there was too To understand this, we have communicated different URLs on the day of launch. originated about 35% of traffic from this action. "

social networks? "Facebook is the first week to become No. 2 in the referrer, Twitter are on number 10 Via Facebook and Twitter diverse, strong opinion-blog on the campaign closely and have written about, for example: http://www.kirstenbrodde.de/ "

newsletter? "On our special newsletter on Tuesday, it rained down protests and Online donations, and we have a distribution of approximately 20,000 addresses, we have posted any banners, have in our partner network made some NGOs, however, the campaign ... "

SUCCESS FACTORS APPLICATION"
banner? " :

involvement of supporters.
basis of all job success was, therefore, the involvement of supporters to get in this case by "action package" to touch the supporters not only the feeling part of the campaign to be, they ARE part of the campaign, the. 137 Comments on 20min.ch were probably influenced by the activity of these core supporters forced

social object:
>> Any supporters after sending the protest provided a personalized video mail is available, the so-called "social object". Due to the personalization it receives a higher Viralitätswert - the supporters of the video can thus use one hand to the protest to push ahead (by others' needs-driven) show as well that he himself participated (driven by its own needs for self-representation). According to BD about 1 / 3 of the Protestants their video send to their social network, which at 3,900 signatures of at least 1,300 "free" Mitteillungen are!

Crisis-tunity:
>> Julius van de Laar, Germany-wire Avaaz has made me familiar with this term. "The crisis has to be there, but it also needs the ability to change that." This is not said: Send a protest to any production facility in India. Here, a supporter of the familiar group (Model label) as "enemy" represented, is fired. And every company these days knows what bad social media publicity may mean for him (see Nestle). Thus, it offers the supporters an enemy from his own world.

Retention:
>> Each week (10 weeks) 4 more fashion labels are presented which give no existence for a reward. The supporters, a Reminder e-mail order and so to participate again in the protest and act also as Mutliplikator the embassy. This principle I like extremely well since I've never seen before.

CONCLUSION: Thumbs Up!

PS: Maybe I would consider a small Facebook ads with highly focused target audience, to keep the protest going ...

Looking forward to your feedback! Cheers, Christoph

survey results "Social Media Benefits for NGOs"

here briefly the results of my little blog survey. Since my blog is aimed only at Fundraiser & NGO communicators I take the survey just an "expert survey (n = 14). Thank you to all participants!

when the results should be noted that multiple responses were possible!

"What benefits does Social Media for NGOs'

social media has to win, therefore focused on the benefit to new supporters through peer-to-peer communication (85%) and existing supporters of integration and dialogue to activate and bind (78%). to collect

The possibility of new ideas for their own activities was by half of the survey participants provided as a benefit out of social media (50%).

Only 21% believe that through social media and specifically Donations can be generated. However, online (especially in the younger target groups) are rarely directly from a prospective donor. The prospective buyer wants to build, through dialogue and integration first and foremost a relationship with the NGO to decide whether he will continue to support NGOs and possibly with cash donations.

social media therefore provides a low-threshold access to NGO and a way of proactive participation and change.

PS The second survey is just online (see right column). I am also very excited about what you think!

1000 thanks. Best regards, Christoph
