Letter Requesting The Disconnection Of Light

Rocketeer

The Rocketeer Dave Stevens of since 1982 as a continuation in the Pacific Comics .

The action takes place in 1938 and is a beautiful classic adventure story as well as at the time could have appeared. The pilot Cliff Secord finds a rocket pack the gangsters have hidden in his plane and now I want a flying man; the "Rocketeer" , a bit of money to impress his girlfriend. want to have a good plan, but he invented the rocket packs and evil Nazi spies in the way all of this thing - and you're ready around!
The whole is beautifully drawn realistically, with many details and links to the 30-40s, the show has the Stevens is known about since really. A little less than optimal, that the story has no real end - but hey, so were the serial time, came as still a cliffhanger. Perhaps the story would be gone if Stevens would not died prematurely ...

As the comic Rocketeer was so successful that he followed in 1991 by a film. He had, however, which unfortunately is not uncommon, not too much to do with the template, even if Dave Stevens himself has co-written the screenplay . The characters were changed significantly, the hero streamlined, his girlfriend Betty (for Betty Page ) in "Jennifer" and renamed "sweet & loving" on trimmed. A gangster was established and a Hollywood star as top villain in a real Nazi Spy is, etc. .. But this version works well and is visually opulent than the comic - and still do very well equipped.
What bothers me more is that is portrayed in the film Howard Hughes as creator of the rocket engine, the comic is Doc Savage . Went well but, for legal reasons, otherwise, even in comic Stevens had omitted the mention of the name, but has any idea of the Doc recognize.

In CrossCult there is currently a new version of Rocketeer, but which I can say nothing because I do not know that. Might be worth it but in any case, if you click on "old fashioned" Adventure stories is.

And I drive now was dark for a few days on the Lake ...
